Description

Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis) is excellent due to the mucilage properties it contains. It is excellent for coating the mucus membranes for the esophagus and stomach lining. Helps with GERD, acid re-flux, and heartburn. It is used in skin products and cough syrups. We use it in several of our herbal remedies.  I use 6 ounces of water and then steep like making regular. Put in the refrigerator overnight with the tea bag still in it, then squeeze it out. You can make larger batches as well and drink an ounce or 2 at a time for relief. Add to tea, juice or drink alone.

We are selling 100 Marshmallow seeds for beautiful garden flowers.

Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis) plants grow four to five feet tall and are beautiful in the garden while in bloom. They grow as tall elegant spikes that are covered with almost white to blush or light pink flowers from July to September. They are also loved by so many different pollinators especially Painted Lady Butterflies.

Brown seed pods begin to form in late September, releasing tiny seeds when mature. These will come back year after year, getting more spikes for a fuller plant. The whole plant is edible from leaves, flowers to roots. All of the plant works as a mucilage but the root has 30 percent more than the plant itself. You can harvest just a part of the roots for making medicine and then replant the the roots and they will re-bloom. You can also divide the roots to make more plants.

Plant from seed spring and fall depending on your climate. I have planted mine every month except winter and have always had them grow without issue. They like full sun. The seeds need cold stratification before planting, mimicking their cycle in nature so they will come to you straight from my refrigerator ready to plant. You will get approximately 100 seeds.
